Mental Health & Addiction Medicine
Community Mental Health Center
Community-based follow-up and psychosocial rehabilitation for chronic psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, delivered through day programs, occupational therapy, and family education.
About this service
Living well with a chronic psychiatric condition requires more than medication alone. The Community Mental Health Center of Mersin University Hospital supports individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other long-term psychiatric illnesses through continuous community-based follow-up and psychosocial rehabilitation. Structured day programs give patients a stable therapeutic routine that includes occupational therapy, social skills training, and psychoeducation, all aimed at restoring daily functioning and independence. Regular clinical follow-up allows medication and treatment plans to be reviewed early, with the aim of reducing relapse and hospital readmission. Families are recognized as partners in care and receive dedicated education and counseling on the illness and its management. A multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers coordinates each patient's rehabilitation, keeping recovery anchored in everyday life.
