Child Monitoring Center (CIM)
Coordinated forensic and medical evaluation of child victims of abuse in a single, child-friendly setting, conducted by a multidisciplinary team working with judicial authorities.
About this service
The Child Monitoring Center (CIM) at Mersin University Hospital is part of a national program of the Turkish Ministry of Health established to protect children who have experienced abuse. Its central principle is that a child should have to describe what happened only once: the forensic interview, medical examination, and psychosocial assessment are completed in a single session, in a child-friendly environment, instead of through repeated questioning at different institutions. Trained forensic interviewers, pediatricians, child psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers carry out the evaluation together, while prosecutors and judicial authorities follow the process from outside the interview room in accordance with legal procedure. The center also arranges psychological support and follow-up for the child and family, and all evaluations are conducted confidentially.
