ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
Advanced therapeutic endoscopy of the bile ducts and pancreas, combining endoscopy and fluoroscopy to remove stones, relieve obstruction, and place stents without surgery.
About this service
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) combines a flexible endoscope with real-time X-ray imaging to reach the bile ducts and pancreatic duct through the mouth, with no external incision. At Mersin University Hospital, ERCP is performed by experienced gastroenterologists in a dedicated endoscopy suite equipped with fluoroscopy, treating gallstones trapped in the bile duct, jaundice caused by benign or malignant strictures, bile leaks, and disorders of the pancreatic duct. Therapeutic options during a single session include sphincterotomy, stone extraction with baskets and balloons, dilation of narrowed segments, and placement of plastic or metal stents to restore drainage. Close collaboration with hepatobiliary surgery, oncology, and interventional radiology ensures that patients with complex biliary and pancreatic disease receive a coordinated, minimally invasive treatment plan.
