Comprehensive Stroke Center
Around-the-clock acute stroke care combining rapid diagnosis, intravenous thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, dedicated stroke unit monitoring, and early rehabilitation in a single coordinated pathway.
About this service
When a stroke occurs, rapid treatment can preserve brain function and independence. The Comprehensive Stroke Center at Mersin University Hospital operates a 24/7 acute stroke pathway in which patients move directly from emergency evaluation and brain imaging to treatment. Clot-dissolving medication (intravenous thrombolysis) is administered to eligible patients, while interventional teams perform mechanical thrombectomy, a catheter-based procedure that physically removes the blood clot from a blocked brain artery. Patients then recover in a dedicated stroke unit, where neurologists and specialized nurses provide continuous monitoring of neurological status, heart rhythm, and vital signs. Early mobilization begins at the bedside, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy continue throughout the hospital stay to support the best possible recovery.
