Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging
PET-CT
Whole-body PET-CT imaging that fuses metabolic activity with detailed anatomy for cancer staging, treatment-response assessment, and selected cardiac and neurologic evaluations.
About this service
PET-CT combines positron emission tomography with computed tomography in a single scan, and at Mersin University Hospital it serves as a cornerstone of modern oncologic imaging. By mapping the metabolic activity of tissues onto precise anatomic images, PET-CT helps clinicians stage cancers, distinguish active disease from scar tissue, and measure how tumors respond to chemotherapy or radiation. Beyond oncology, the technique supports evaluation of myocardial viability and certain neurologic conditions such as epilepsy and dementia. Studies are read jointly by nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists and shared with referring oncologists through multidisciplinary review. International patients benefit from consolidated staging and restaging appointments, giving their home care teams clear, imaging-based guidance for treatment planning.
